STAAR End-of-Course Assessments Retest in June In Spring 2021, your child was given the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) assessment(s). Your child’s score report will be mailed home in mid-June. A letter has been mailed home if your child did not meet the required passing standard in English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology and/or US History. Your child’s next retest opportunities are as follows: Tuesday June 22 at 8:30 am English I and US History Wednesday June 23 at 8:30 am Biology Thursday June 24 at 8:30 am English II and Algebra I All test administrations will take place at the high school. If your child does not take, and pass, the test(s) in June, then he/she will be placed in a tutorial lab class until such time of passing the required tests. Students in Grades 9, 10 and 11 who are exempt from all final exams are required to check in at the office at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and then may leave the campus. Students who are not exempt from a class must attend the class on campus. Remote students are required to check in online.

For the final two weeks of school, remote students are not allowed to return to campus except to return school material such as computers and textbooks on the last day of school, Friday, May 28. Students who are face-to-face must continue attending classes on campus until school ends. Students are not allowed to move back and forth from remote to face-to-face learning.

UPDATE: The Department of State Health Services will give vaccines to students ages 12 and older at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 14 at the Marfa Shorthorn Gym. Children 12- to 15-years old must be accompanied by their parent/guardian. There is no charge for the vaccine. Please call the school at 432-729-5500 if you want your child vaccinated.

Hey high school students! Our partner at Workforce Solutions Borderplex is hosting an evening workshop series called Grind Talk with upcoming virtual workshops on specific high-demand industries in the Borderplex region. Each interactive workshop will give students insight into what a career in that field might involve. There will also be the opportunity for students to interact with employers from that industry, ask questions, and win prizes. The final workshop will be tonight May 13th from 6-7pm and will talk about information technology careers. For more information, flyers are posted on campus or see Mrs. Porter.
