🧬🔬 Learning Comes to Life at Marfa ISD! 🔬🧬
A huge shout out to our incredible partners — The Petroleum Museum, the Marfa Education Foundation, and our very own Mrs. Lora Loya — for bringing another unforgettable experience to our Marfa Junior High students!
On Friday morning, students stepped inside the Petroleum Museum's Bodies Dome mobile learning unit (Conoco Phillips), where they explored the human body in a new and interactive way. They learned how the body thrives, fights off germs, adapts, and works to stay healthy — all through an immersive experience that made science come alive.
The Permian Basin Petroleum Museum’s mobile outreach programs deliver powerful STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) learning directly to schools and communities. Through innovative exhibits and traveling programs, students can explore science and technology.
✨ Mobile Education
✨ Hands-On STEAM Learning
✨ Bridging the Past, Present, and Future of Energy
Thanks to the continued support of the Marfa Education Foundation, our teachers have access to relevant, high-quality learning tools and professional development opportunities. Your investment in our educators directly benefits our students every day.
This is what strong partnerships look like — bringing authentic, high-quality learning opportunities directly to our students right here in Marfa, Tx.
We are grateful for community collaboration that expands horizons and inspires curiosity. 💜

🐎⭐ Shorthorn Pride on the Big Stage! ⭐🐎
Congratulations to Marfa ISD’s own Lyla Luppino on being recognized at the 2026 Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas!
Lyla was selected from more than 140 entries at the Carrying on the Tradition Youth Poetry Reading Event — an outstanding achievement that reflects not only her remarkable talent, but also the strong writing skills, creativity, and meaningful learning taking place in Ms. Gore’s English class.
Her winning poem, “Three Barrels, One Chance,” earned honors in the Level 4 – 7th Grade Division. The poem beautifully captures the excitement, precision, and grit of barrel racing, while honoring the powerful bond between rider, horse, and family — becoming one in the arena and in spirit.
We are so proud of Lyla for representing Marfa ISD and carrying on the tradition of storytelling through poetry. 💜
