Senior parent meeting at 6 pm today at Marfa High School to discuss April and May senior events.

Senior parents are invited to a meeting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 6 at Gregg Auditorium to discuss graduation activities.

On Thursday, April 7, the STAAR English II End of Course assessment will be given to 10th graders. Students need to charge their chrome books the night before and bring it and the charger to the testing room Thursday morning.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Please avoid using Lincoln Street this week, April 4-8. This is the street next to the football field and bus barn.
There are numerous trucks loading and unloading material all week for the new track.

Class of 2022 - Local scholarship applications are not becoming available. Don't miss out! Get those applications turned in soon to Counselor Mrs. Porter. The first deadline is April 15.

Learn to protect your kids online! Lynette Brehm from Don't Click will be at Robinson Cafeteria Wednesday, March 30 to give parents information they need including when to give your child their first cell phone and protecting your child when online. It's all free! Join us at 6 p.m. The program will also be presented in Spanish at 7:15 p.m.



Juan Avila, Alexis Gonzales, and Aubrie Aguilar are participating in the Texas Science and Engineering Fair at College Station today. In May, the group will compete at the national science competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Science teacher Lizzy Donaldson is accompanying and sponsoring these student scientists.

CONSTRUCTION! Keep out! Construction of the new track is underway! For the safety of our students, please drop off and pick up junior high and high school students south of Hunter Gym on the corner of Lincoln and Gonzalez streets or in front of the high school. Construction will continue until the end of the school year.


DSHS will offer Pfizer vaccines at Marfa Shorthorn Gym for children ages 5-11 and Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and boosters for children 12 years of age and older on March 9, 2022 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. or until they run out. To sign up, contact district nurse Beverly Dutchover at 432-729-5500 prior to March 9, 2022. Please pick up the required paperwork from the nurse today, March 8, to be prepared for the clinic.

Marfa ISD will release all students at 12 noon on Friday, March 11, in order for the teaching staff to attend assessment training. Spring break is March 14-18. Classes will resume Monday, March 21.

Marfa ISD Kindergarten Department celebrated Read Across America today with a Dr. Seuss story read by Principal Amy White! The Kinder class had Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast! Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!


Construction on the new track started today! The junior high student drop off and pick up will be in front of the high school during construction.

Break a leg! One Act Play students will perform "The Magic Well" by Herman Armann at 4 p.m. today at Van Horn High School. The public is invited to the performance but should arrive at least an hour before as the schedule may change. Donel Lara is the One Act Play director. Actors and crew are Zaley Porter, Emily Hernandez, Diego Jurado, Aubrie Aguilar, Francisco Rosas, Febi Brimhall, dalys Chacon, Nathan Pena, Ashley Certain, Zach Wilson, Maryfer Martinez, Loretta Rivera, Luis Solis, Ana Gallegos, Alexis Gonzales, Cristian Ontiveros, Lesly Torres, and Ummi Chanez. Go Horns!

Congratulations to the students who competed in the regional science fair today at UT Permian Basin and are now advancing to state and national competition! Participating students are Aubrie Aguilar, Alexis Gonzales, Juan Avila, Soraya Vallez, Febi Brimhall, Brianna Sanchez, Zoe Tolliver, Alyssa Harden, and Adonise Lujan. Gonzales, Aguilar and Avila's entry, "Germs and You" won overall and will advance to national competition in Atlanta in May. Brimhall, Sanchez, and Vallez took second place with their entry, "How to Efficiently and Effectively Clean up Oil Spills" and advance to state competition. Sixth graders Harden and Tolliver also advance to state. Harden placed second with "Double the Bubble," and Tolliver placed third with "How Much Weight Can Break it." State competition will be held at Texas A&M College Station. The students' science teachers are Elizabeth Donaldson and Cheri Aguero.
