On Saturday, March 4th, 6 students will travel with Ms. Powers to Odessa for VASE, or the Visual Art Scholastic Event, a statewide Texas art competition.
The students with the strongest art pieces from MISD were chosen at the end of last semester, after all 29 Art II, III, & IV students displayed their 3 best artworks from the semester in a gallery show. Those works were judged by Chinati and Ballroom art experts, and the community mingled with students and teachers at an artists' reception in Ms. Powers' art room.
Three more advancing MISD students are junior Jack Marquez, and sophomores Ash Marquez and Kiko Rosas.
The competition was tough this year! Congratulations to the Shorthorns who are advancing to VASE. We wish them good luck in further advancing to State VASE!
