Shorthorn

Marfa ISD Students and Families,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Marfa ISD! We hope you had a fantastic summer filled with fun and relaxation. We are thrilled to open our doors and welcome you all back to campus.

We have missed the sound of laughter echoing through the hallways, the curiosity in your eyes as you explore new subjects, and the sense of friendship that makes our school community so special. Whether you're returning for another year or joining us for the first time, we are honored to have you as part of the Marfa Shorthorn family.

This year, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student feels valued, inspired, and supported. Our dedicated team of educators have been hard at work preparing engaging lessons, creative activities, and a safe space for your child to learn and be successful.

Here are some upcoming events and changes to Marfa ISD:

First Day of School: The first day of school is August 16, 2023. We can't wait to see you all bright and early, ready to get started on a new adventure of learning and growth.

Drop-off and Dismissal: Marfa ISD JH/HS students will begin the day at 7:45. First bell will ring at 7:40. The JH students will enter the building using the east side door (by the football field concession stand). The HS students will enter using the main entrance to the building.  For our students’ safety, we will have them wait for the first bell at the student gathering area nearest to the parking lot located to the south of the parking lot.

Dismissal for the JH/HS students will be at 4:15.

Marfa Elementary students will be dropped off at the cafeteria. The cafeteria will begin breakfast at 7:15 each morning. Please make sure elementary students are there by 7:30 if they need to eat breakfast. The school day will begin at 7:45 for elementary.

Dismissal for elementary students will begin at 3:50 from the west side of the elementary building.

First Day of School ONLY Marfa Elementary Pre-K and Kindergarten will be dropped off at the front of the building. Parents can walk their children to the classroom. All other students will need to arrive at the cafeteria and parents are welcome to walk their children in for the first day ONLY

Meet Your Teachers/Meet the Shorthorns: Our wonderful teachers are excited to meet you! We will be hosting a meet-and-greet session on August 14, 2023 to give you the opportunity to get to know your new teacher and classmates. This event will happen at both campuses from 4:30 to 6:30.

Stay Connected: We believe in the power of partnership between school and home. Stay connected with us through our website, social media channels, and regular communication from your child's teacher.

As we embark on this new school year together, let's embrace each day with a sense of wonder and enthusiasm. We are here to support you every step of the way, and we can't wait to see the incredible achievements you will accomplish.

Here's to a fantastic year of growth, friendship, and success!

Go Shorthorns!
