Attendance calls are made for the safety of your child. Attendance notifications are sent daily between 11 AM and noon by phone, email and/or text message when your student is marked absent from school. If you know your child is not in school because he or she is home sick or has an appointment for the day, you should email the school as soon as possible and let the school know your child is out that day.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Marfa Schools will not accept phone calls to clear an absence. We must have written documentation, preferably by email, to clear absences. If you are unable to send an email please send a written note with your child upon their return. The written note should include the date of the absence, the parent signature, the full name of the student, and the reason for the absence. Please send emails to   attendanceEL@marfaisd.com for Elementary or   attendanceMJSHS@marfaisd.com for Junior/High School.

Texas Compulsory Attendance

Regular school attendance is essential for the student to make the most of his/her education, to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day's learning on the previous day's, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a students mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and their parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences. If it is absolutely necessary that a child be absent, a parent must call the school and notify the attendance clerk. Marfa Schools will not accept phone calls to clear an absence. We must have written documentation, preferably by email, to clear absences. If you are unable to send an email, please send a written note with your child within three days of their return. The written note should include the date of the absence, the parents signature, the full name of the student and the reason for the absence. Please send emails to attendanceEL@marfaisd.com for Elementary or attendanceMJSHS@marfaisd.com for Junior High/High School. Failure to send written documentation will result in an unexcused absence being recorded.
