Marfa ISD is a 1 A school district with just under 400 students.  We have approximately 80 faculty and staff members serving our 2 campuses, Elementary (PreK-6th Grade) and Junior Senior High School (7th-12th Grade).  Marfa ISD pursues rigorous academic standards with outstanding ESL, Gifted & Talented, Special Population, Athletic, Vocational, and Technology programs in addition to its core courses.  We are rated Academically Acceptable by the Texas Education Association.

Marfa ISD is located in Marfa, Texas, population 2424, elevation 4830', in the Trans-Pecos region of the state at the intersection of Hwy 67 and Hwy 90.  It is 189 miles from Midland, 190 miles from El Paso, 60 miles from the Mexico border, and 100 miles from Big Bend National Park. Marfa is located on a great highland plain called the Marfa Plateau, in the upper corner of the Chihuahuan Desert, the largest desert in North America. It is semi-protected by mountains: by the Davis Mts. to the north, by the Chisos Mts. to the southeast, and by the Chinati Mts. to the southwest.  Marfa is noted for its Mystery Lights and as the location for the filming of the 1955 movie Giant.
